The story revolves around a thirteen-year-old boy named Bastien, who finds himself at the heart of a uniquely reconstructed family. Unlike traditional families, Bastien’s family includes six half-brothers and half-sisters, each with their own backgrounds and personalities. This mix creates a dynamic and sometimes chaotic environment where relationships and roles are constantly shifting.

Bastien’s family features a surprisingly large number of 'parents'—eight in total—who share responsibilities and authority. Each of these adults brings their own set of rules, expectations, and styles of parenting. Consequently, Bastien’s daily life is filled with complex interactions and negotiations, often making his family experience more intricate than his schoolwork. The varying household rules, different living arrangements, and multiple parental figures create a vibrant but sometimes overwhelming household.

Living across as many as eight different houses, Bastien’s family situation complicates everyday routines further. The children need to adapt to different environments and schedules, often having to move from one home to another. This constant shifting not only affects their daily routines but also influences their sense of stability, prompting them to seek ways to regain control over their lives.

Recognizing the chaos and feeling the need for change, Bastien and his siblings decide to take matters into their own hands. They plan to wage a kind of revolution, determined to overturn the existing rules that govern their unconventional family life. The children believe that by doing so, they can create a more balanced and fulfilling environment for themselves, where their voices are heard and their wishes respected.

Their act of rebellion culminates in a bold move: the children occupy a large apartment in their neighborhood. They turn it into a common space where they can gather and express themselves freely. The adults, or the 'parents' in this case, are then faced with the challenge of engaging with their children on equal footing. From this upheaval, new rules and relationships are meant to emerge, fostering a fresh understanding between parents and children in this complex family setup.
