A young comedian, desperate to make it big, sets out on a road trip to Las Vegas with hopes of auditioning for the popular Monte Guy show. Along the way, he encounters a mysterious hitchhiker who seemingly appears out of nowhere and seems to have a strange influence over the events that follow. Despite his initial discomfort, the comedian agrees to give the hitchhiker a ride, not knowing how this decision will change his life.

As they travel through the remote desert, strange and ominous things begin to happen in a nearby town. It turns out that the area is embroiled in a series of violent incidents and a killing spree that has left residents and visitors alike on edge. The comedian becomes inadvertently caught in the chaos, finding himself at the center of a dangerous and unpredictable situation. His attempts to stay safe and make sense of the chaos lead to increasingly tense encounters with law enforcement and the local residents.

Throughout the turmoil, the comedian’s sense of humor and ability to keep calm under pressure are put to the test. The stress and danger unexpectedly contribute to his growth as a performer, as he begins to develop a sharper, more authentic comedic voice. The horror and chaos inadvertently inspire him, transforming his previously unfunny routines into fresh and engaging material that surprises even himself.

The mysterious hitchhiker’s true nature and purpose add an element of intrigue and suspense to the story. As the comedian uncovers more about his unexpected companion, he realizes that the stranger’s involvement in the events is not coincidental. This revelation forces him to confront his fears and question whether his survival and comedic awakening are linked to the stranger’s mysterious influence.

In the end, the ordeal in the desert town does more than just threaten his life; it helps him discover a new depth to his humor and resilience. The experience becomes a pivotal moment in his journey as a comedian, transforming him from a hapless, unfunny "wanna-be" into a performer with a compelling story and a unique perspective. The desert town's killing spree, paradoxically, becomes the unlikely catalyst for his personal and professional growth.
